Regarding Kane Cunningham’s view of Ray Lonsdale’s sculptures being clumsy and lacking aesthetic judgement. I feel I must respond on behalf of the majority of people of whom he obviously feels have no artistic credibility. Art is a very subjective thing. What one thinks is great another will think is rubbish. Everybody I’ve spoken to thinks Ray Lonsdale’s work is fantastic and adds value to the town. Perhaps Mr Cunningham would prefer to see something more “arty” such as an unmade bed, a pile of bricks or a cow in formaldehyde - or perhaps a bungalow falling into the sea?
