ONE of Scarborough’s biggest events on the fundraising calendar will take place in North Bay tomorrow.
Hundreds of women of all ages are gearing up to take part in Race for Life 2011 to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The event gets under way at 9am and is expected to attract hundreds of spectators.
Participants will assemble at Scarborough’s Sea Life Centre for the start of the race.
The new route, which has moved this year from its original base at Oliver’s Mount, will take participants past the Open Air Theatre, past the Sands Complex, along Royal Albert Drive as far as Hairy Bob’s Cave, back along the drive and along the promenade in front of the chalets, finishing at the Sea Life Centre.
Most of those taking part will wear something pink and many will be in fancy dress.
Participants will also wear a sign on their back with details about who they are running for.
Claire Wase, area events manager for Cancer Research UK, said: “We’re really looking forward to the event. As a team we’re very excited to get started for the region here in Scarborough.
“Hopefully it will be a fabulous event – I think the ladies have really got behind us this year with the new venue.”
