THE YMCA is staging orchestra auditions for its summer show tomorrow, at 7pm.
Conducted by musical director Sam Jewison, 15, the orchestra will play when The Wizard of Oz is presented from August 1 to September 8.
Productions director Kerry Nicholson says: “It is a big commitment as the show runs for four nights over a six-week period, plus rehearsals, but it is a fantastic opportunity for anyone of any age who loves music and enjoys playing”.
Kerry is hunting for people who can play violin, viola, cello, bass (double or electric), trumpet, French horn, trombone, clarinet or tenor/baritone sax, to grade 5.
Auditioners will be required to play a musical piece of their choice, lasting no longer than two minutes. They should be prepared to sight read.
