At-Risk Sites: Continuous destruction

Re your article ‘Historic gardens and four ancient sites on ‘at risk list’’.

I beg to differ at the latter. Since the late 1940s destruction of these sites has been going on continuously. In an effort to save the latter from total loss permission was granted to excavate many sites. The Lamplough-Lidster Collection testifies to this, it was donated by me to the York Museum Trust. I hold the Lamplough Archive which together with the YMT we are gathering together all the information regarding this important collection. It is hoped that it will be published in the not too distant future.
