On January 20 I was suddenly ill and was taken by ambulance to Scarborough General Hospital Accident and Emergency Department.
The ambulance came from Malton on an icy, foggy night, the two ladies ambulance crew and the staff who received me in Accident and Emergency were so caring and helpful, I was admitted to Cherry Ward and later transferred to Haldane Ward under the care of Dr Tadeusz Pawlak and his team.
I cannot praise enough the care I received from them and from the very busy nursing and ancillary staff from all departments. I, and all my family, express our gratitude to them all.
I hope that the powers that be will take notice when they think of the future of Scarborough, Whitby, Malton and Bridlington Hospitals that when we need this care to continue, not just for ourselves but for the future generations to come, they do not destroy what is good in the name of progress.
