HAVING passed the age at which it seemed sensible to give up driving, I was not looking forward to the prospect of urban bus journeys; having to surrender the personal choice of travelling whenever or wherever I wished.
In the event, I have been surprised to have discovered the pleasure of being driven by very pleasant and responsible people, punctual, patient and caring; namely, the bus drivers working on our local services. (Particularly the No 4).
I no longer have the wish to take part in the competition of the daily scrum, or having to fork out astronomical sums for petrol or repairs.
If the worst came to the worst, I would even be prepared to pay!
