No justification for blue lights?

Have your say

Even though Scarborough has a low crime rate, it is not that uncommon to witness police cars travelling at high speed to something or other. I suspect it is normally traffic incidents.

However, on Sunday, February 19, at 7.30am, I was walking my dog near my home at Crossgates, when I witnessed three police cars travelling at high speed on the Filey Road towards Seamer near the junction of the Station Road. The first two were very close together and the third followed about a minute later. As they had come from the Eastfield area.

The following day I inquired of the media about any incident that might possibly have merited such a response. I have read this week’s edition (February 23) and there is nothing that could justify what I witnessed.

There seems to be at least two valid reasons for the speeding. It may have been a false alarm. It may have been an incident that for some reason the police do not want to be reported. It may also have been something that was not justified.

I consider that what I witnessed was dangerous and should be reported to the officer in charge.

Yet the police force website does not provide any information about it.
