Mr Evans was firm but fair and very effective

I WAS sorry to read that retired local teacher Mr John Evans had recently died. I remember him well from my time at Westwood School in the 1960s where he was known as a firm but fair disciplinarian and very effective teacher. Even though the school had a large number of “difficult” pupils from deprived backgrounds, there was rarely any serious misbehaviour and even the most unruly boys usually obtained decent jobs when they finished.

Thank you Mr Evans.
