Smokers keep our tax lower

Have your say

RE: THAT persecuted minority, known as smokers.

When I was young (I’m 71), there was no commercial TV, no huge billboards etc, to advertise cigarettes etc. However, far more people smoked.

Various governments have spent billions in anti-smoking schemes, but the campaigns don’t work.

If every smoker stopped, income tax would have to rise dramatically to cover the loss of £11 billion a year raised in tobacco taxes.
