Touched by tributes to proud Scarborian

Re: Recent coverage of the funeral of John Dixon Leefe.

I am writing to express my grateful thanks for the support and kind words received in recent days on the death of my husband John Leefe on July 21 2011.

I was particularly touched by the news articles and tribute letter from the Forty Club in the Scarborough Evening News, which has loyally supported my husband’s work and activities over many years.

I am taking this opportunity also to thank the Scarborough Royal Engineers Association in organising such a wonderful and moving tribute at John’s funeral at St Mary’s Church Cloughton on August 3 2011.

A grateful thanks also to the Standard Bearers and Church Wardens as well as the Reverend Liz Kitching and Chaplain to the Royal Engineers Association Michael Mewis JP.

John was very proud of being a Scarborian and would have been touched by the support and arrangements for his funeral.

To all who have been involved and supportive over the last few days, my family and I offer our grateful thanks.
