We must ensure elderly have best quality of life

RE “Number of elderly set to rocket”.

It is good to see that the number of people aged over 65 in Scarborough is set to rapidly increase. Advances in medicine mean that as a country we are living longer, more active and productive lives.

Scarborough could see the increase in older people as an opportunity to become a centre of excellence for the way we celebrate and care for our older citizens.

The challenge for us all, not just in Scarborough but as a society as a whole, is to ensure that older people get a good quality of life with the proper care, dignity and independence they deserve.
