FITNESS fans in Scarborough are limbering up for a charity Zumbathon which is being held later this month.
Zumba is the latest exercise craze and combines dance and aerobic moves with lively Latin American music.
Instructors from across the Scarborough and Ryedale are joining forces to lead a two-hour event at Malton School Sports Hall on Sunday March 27 from 10.30am.
They are hoping that 250 people or more will join in a mass Zumba session to raise money for Ryedale Special Families, an independent charity which helps young people with disabilities or special needs and their families.
One of the instructors taking part is Christina Ingham from Compass Health and Fitness in Barry’s Lane.
She said: “I think a lot of people in Scarborough will jump at the chance to take part in a Zumbathon!
“It’s very popular and it gets everyone into exercise, no matter what their age.
“I can’t wait for the event - I’m really looking forward to it.”
The Zumbathon is open to men and women of all ages. It costs £5 to enter and participants are asked to raise at least £5 in sponsorship.
A number of instructors will take turns to lead the session, including Debs Horsham-Batley who is not pictured.
Sponsor forms are available from any of the instructors and from Compass Health and Fitness.
There is still time for entrants to register.
