Following the success of The Andrew ‘Mo’ Stevenson Memorial Rugby Match at Silver Royd on Easter Monday, between the Gulls and Klosters Exiles, Andrew’s parents, John and Jean Stevenson, presented Saint Catherine’s Hospice with a cheque for £2686 raised on the day.

Over 80 players turned up to contest the first annual memorial match for Andrew, who sadly passed away last year.

John said: “On behalf of everyone who played, attended and supported Andrew’s memorial match, we are delighted to present the money raised to the hospice for patient care.

He added “Our goal was to not only bring everyone together to remember him with an event that would serve as a fitting tribute, but also for the Hospice to benefit, in appreciation of the care Andrew received during his final days there.

“We are now hoping to make this an annual event.”

Fundraiser Louise Gravestock added: “I would like to gratefully accept this cheque and the money raised will enable us to continue in the care and comfort of our patients and their families.”
