WYKEHAM batsman Craig Bateman hit a superb 92 to help his side to a win over Scalby in Division A of the Readers Scarborough Beckett League.
Scalby took first use of the bat and Mike Buttery and Nigel Clapham both struck 25.
The visitors were in trouble until number seven batsman Connor Carson came to the crease.
Carson hit an unbeaten 50 to help Scalby to a reasonable total of 181-8 at tea.
Imposing pace merchant Dave Pearson was in form with the ball for the hosts.
He bowled a tight line while keeping his pace up.
Pearson claimed figures of 3-50 for his efforts.
But Wykeham were in mood to lose out on the win and made a solid start to their knock.
Bateman was in scintillating form with the willow as he reached 92 before he was removed just short of three figures.
He offered no chances to the visiting fielders and punished the bad ball while remaining patient at the crease.
He was well supported by Pete Shepherdson, who compiled 54 as Wykeham cruised home for the loss of five wickets.
Scalby’s Jon Barton and Paul Hesp bowled decent spells but were unable to take a wicket.
