BECKETT LEAGUE: Fylingdales stay top

Fylingdales remain top of the Division Two standings following an emphatic victory over Scarborough 3rds.

The villagers made an imposing total of 266-5 thanks to fine knocks from skipper Barry Heyes (78), Chris Hurworth (50) and Tom Shrimpton (43 not out).

Mark Estill added a useful 26 before taking charge with the ball, claiming 4-12 as Scarborough were skittled with just 55 on the board, sealing a 211-run triumph for the early-season pacesetters.

A potential thriller between Ebberston 2nds and Ravenscar was cut short with an exciting finish in prospect.

Ebberston made 198 all out, Ed Harrison top scoring with 71, Jon Metcalfe adding 40, and captain Joe Tyson chipping in with 27.

Anthony White took 3-13 and Andy Edgar also collected three wickets.

Edgar also made 47 in reply, and with Ivan Kirk striking 39, Ravenscar looked well-placed on 115-2 after 30 overs before rain stopped play.

Ganton looked on course for a win against bottom placed Forge Valley 2nds before rain again halted play.

James Richardson’s brilliant 6-32 saw Valley all out for 135, with only Gary Gibson (26) and Christain Reddish (24) having any answer to Richardson’s spell. Ganton raced to 53-0 after just 9.4 overs with Greg Mills striking 38 not out before the heavens opened.

Bridlington 2nds racked up 203-6 against Scalby 2nds, with Jack Ibbotson making a fine 46 and skipper Andy Leeson hitting 40.

Scalby were on 27-2 after five overs in reply.

Only 12.2 overs were possible at Great Habton with Sewerby on top with the home side reeling on 33-2.

Ryedale got their first win of the season in Division Three, beating Heslerton 2nds by nine-wickets.

Jordan Newton impressed with the ball, taking 4-29 as Heslerton were bowled out for just 77, despite Kelsea Dent’s 27.

In reply, Joe Harland struck 28 and Neil Cowton 24 not out as Ryedale ensured they took maximum points.

Flamborough slipped to a four-wicket loss on the road at Kirkbymoorside.

The visitors’ Harry Burton made a superb 76 as Flamborough posted 156-5 in a 34-over game.

The Moorsiders struck back however, led by Andy Bayes, who made 39 before Sean Walker (34no) saw his side home with three overs to spare.

Muston batted first against Flixton 3rds, making a useful 155 all out, Kyle Orange top-scoring with a fine half century as Pete Hill claimed 3-35.

Flixton were 43-2 after 12 overs before play ended due to rain.

Nawton Grange 2nds travelled to Wykeham 2nds and made 131-7 in 35 overs.

John Moxon made 47 and Justin Palmer also hit 45, James Wilson taking three wickets.

Wykeham looked well placed on 70-1 after 18 overs, Richard Creaser unbeaten on 34 and Dale Corcoran 27 not out, before the rain stopped play.

In Division Four, Filey 2nds were 68-3 against Wold Newton 2nds, Nathan Vernon hitting 44 before rain forced the players off.

Sherburn 2nds reached 12-0 after five overs of their game with Snainton until the weather ended the fixture.

Thornton Dale 2nds came out on top in a low-scoring encounter at Ravenscar 2nds in Division Five.

Dale were dismissed for just 99 and only Paul Waring (30) made an impression with bat in hand as Lee Holdsworth took 4-20 and Jon Stokoe claimed 3-9.

Stokoe also made 17, but 5-16 from star man Waring, along with 4-29 from John Ellis saw the visitors win by 30 runs and claim 15 points.

Muston 2nds had reached 46-2 with Dave Meer unbeaten on 27 before the rain came and ended their clash with Valley Bar Nomads.
