Forge Valley 2nds all-rounder Sean Pinder and Ryedale’s Dan Walker both hit centuries as their sides claimed victories against Duncombe Park 2nds and Bridlington 2nds respectively in division B of the Readers Scarborough Beckett Cricket League.

Pinder hit an unbeaten 141 as Valley surpassed Park’s 204 all out for the loss of just two wickets, John Flinton also remaining undefeated on 30.

Jeremy Lascelles had earlier ended agonisingly short of his ton, finishing on 97 not out, while Barry Weldon smacked 74, but the rest of the home batsmen failed in the face of top bowling from Anthony Noble (4-60) and Nick Cook (4-45).

Walker’s stunning 150 guided Ryedale to 286-3, Andy Hill assisting with a strong 71.

Alex Ibbotson then snapped up 4-49 as Brid were skittled for 156, Steve Lount top-scoring with 56.

Heslerton continue to look strong title favourites in the premier division, their latest success a seven-wicket win at struggling Cloughton.

Adam Spaven’s 6-24 saw the hosts slump to 121 despite a defiant 50 from Paul Virr.

Alex Carrie (36) and Sam Triffitt (27no) saw Heslerton safely home, and they now lead second-placed Kirkby - who have played a game more than the pacesetters - by 25 points.

Kirkby maintained their own chances of lifting the league title with a 45-run win at third-placed Forge Valley.

The Moorsiders may have harboured a few worries after they were dismissed for 178, Eddie Cass hitting a crucial unbeaten 57 and Aussie Dan Meredith 58. Tom Bumby and Dave Morris bagged four wickets each for the home side.

Valley’s hopes of victory were soon dashed by fine bowling from Martin Charlton (3-57) and Dan Jeminson (5-28) as, despite a plucky 31 from Joe Bradshaw the Ayton club slipped to 133 all out.

Ebberston boosted their chances of escaping relegation with a five-wicket home success against fellow strugglers Cayton, while Staxton hung on for a one-run win at Staithes.

Filey continue to dominate division A after a 39-run win at a determined Scalby outfit.

Kieron Gayle (66), Phil Dickens (58) and Paul Bowes (55) steered the visitors to 246-6 and the second-from-bottom home side made it to 207-6 in reply mainly thanks to 52 from Adam Waugh and an unbeaten 46 by Daniel Gregory.

Scalby 2nds still lead the way in division C after their five-wicket win at Wykeham 2nds.

Tom Gregory took 4-42 and hit 36 not out for the visitors.
