There were a handful of talking points at this week’s Derwent Valley Junior League annual general meeting.
The league were given an initial boost by the news that sponsor Ed Greenwood of Greenwood Hire was renewing his support of the league.
The officers of the league, which runs from under-11 to under-15, were also confirmed on the night.
Karen Maw was named registration secretary, Ian Thompson moved from under-13 results secretary to the under-15 version, Robert Green took his previous role, while Wendy Burnhill continued as under-11s results secretary.
Malcolm Maw, Derek Hall and Bernard Goulding also continued their respective roles of secretary, president and chairman.
One issue to be raised on the night was whether the under-13 age-group should play eight-a-side or 11-a-side matches throughout the season.
Clubs must now contact Malcolm Maw before April 15 with their decision.
Maw said: “Some of the clubs can play 11-a-side and some of the smaller village teams struggle, so we have left it up to them to decide what they want to do.”
A number of new teams were admitted to the league on block.
Under-15 new teams: Duncombe Park, Pickering B, Seamer.
Under-13: Driffield, Heslerton, Pickering B, Oriel, Scalby Snainton.
Under-11: Beeford, Bridlington B, Duncombe Park B, Oriel, Sewerby.
