An unbeaten 108 from Alex Carrie helped his Heslerton side to secure victory in the McCain Cup Final at Flixton.

Opener Carrie’s 108no was boosted by 57 from Josh Croft, while Ravenscar veteran Will Warwick plucked 2-20 as Heslerton posted a massive 196-3 from their 15 (eight-ball) overs.

Ravenscar’s reply never really got going and despite decent knocks from J Vargese, 36, Joe Bayes, 22, and brother Shaun Bayes, 21no, they were restricted to 113-7.

Heslerton’s main man with the cherry was Kristian Wilkinson, who took 3-18, while wily medium pacer Paul Kinghorn collected two wickets for 14 runs.

Heslerton’s cup win secured a league and cup double from what has been a successful debut season in the AndyHire Evening League.

They remained unbeaten in winning the division C table, and will play division D winners Scalby B in a presentation game on Wednesday evening.

Mr Edwin Cooper, vice president of the AndyHire Evening League, and president of Staxton CC, presented the trophies after the game.
