Scarborough Cricket Club chairman Bill Mustoe insists Scarborough Borough Council will continue to back them despite their plans to cut their funding.
SBC are planning to withdraw an annual grant of £3,500 to the North Marine Road club, but Mustoe understands the council’s financial woes and is adamant the club will still receive support from the local authority.
Mustoe said: “We understand the difficulty local councils face with budget cuts.
“They’ve been incredibly supportive to us over recent years and I’m sure they’ll continue to work with us in other ways.
“I look forward to working with them as we enter another exciting year for the club.”
Mustoe believes 2014 is shaping up as the most exciting for many years.
“I think this year is one of the most exciting we’ve had for a number of years,” added Mustoe.
“We’ve got 10 days of First Class cricket and England Ladies and Yorkshire Ladies, as well as two Yorkshire Second XI games.”
The chairman is also looking forward to welcoming Yorkshire’s chief executive Mark Arthur to the club on February 4, “Mark appreciates the benefit of having Scarborough as a venue and I’m looking forward to the evening,” added Mustoe.
