Filey 2nds all-rounder Jordan Collins struck 90 and took 3-23 as his side hammered Derwent Valley League division C new boys Valley Bar Nomads by 156 runs.

Micky Blyth smashed 71 in support of Collins as the Clarence Drive-based club posted 226-6.

The Nomads then sank to 70 all out with Collins and Kevin Chapman, 4-22, leading the way with the ball for the leaders.

Ant Yates struck a magnificent unbeaten 121 as Wold Newton 2nds won by 179 runs at Forge Valley 4ths.

Will Hall’s 37 and Andrew Southwell’s 32no helped Newton to 231-2.

In reply Dan Harrison and Dave Stockdale bagged three wickets apiece as Valley slipped to 52 all out.

Wykeham 3rds earned their first win of the season, defeating hosts Ganton 2nds by five wickets.

The home side were skittled for 76 and in reply, Danny Wilson’s 38 saw Wykeham safely home, Joe Sarup taking 3-18.

Thornton Dale 2nds won by four wickets at Nawton Grange 2nds, which was also their opening success of the season.

Spinner John Ellis snapped up 4-42 as Grange limped to 127-9, Tom Sleightholme hitting a defiant 59.

Rob Sterling’s 46 paved the way for a Dale win, despite Darren King’s deadly spell of 4-24 for Nawton.

Skipper Darius Bradley hammered an unbeaten 81 as Scalby 3rds strolled to a nine-wicket win at home to Muston 2nds.

Nobeel Hussain snapped up 3-40 as Muston were bowled out for 127, John Precious remaining unbeaten on 52 and Ian Norris adding 39.

Bradley and youngster Brad Walker, 28no, wrapped up an early win for the home side.
