EBBERSTON kept up their quest for the Greenwood Hire Derwent Valley Junior under-15s division A title with a six-wicket win at home to Cayton.

Neil Eddon, 2-9, and Jack Woodhead, 2-7, were the star bowlers for the hosts as Cayton posted a total of 78-6.

A cracking spell of bowling from Joel Boyer, who ended up with figures of three wickets for 12 runs, gave Ebberston a few scares, but 27 retired from Henry Harrison saw them safely to victory with 79-4.

The other three top-flight games on Sunday, Bridlington v Driffield, Scarborough A v Pickering and Sewerby A v Wykeham were rained off.

Bridlington B eased to a 60-run success at Forge Valley in division C.

Tyler Beck and Alfie Cotterill took two wickets each as Valley limited Brid to 79-6, Frankie Reffold top-scoring with 25 retired.

Valley were then skittled for 19 runs.

The game between Sewerby B and Pickering under-13s A was called off due to rain.

The four games in the Greenwood Hire Derwent Valley Junior Cricket League under-11s Cup were called off on Friday evening and Sunday due to the wet weather that has wrecked the local cricket fixture list this season.

The teams in both divisions will be hoping for better weather when they return to action this weekend.

In division A, Cayton play host to Pickering.

Leaders Scarborough A make the trip to face Sewerby A on their cliff-top pitch, while second-placed Driffield entertain rivals Ebberston and struggling Wykeham are at home to Bridlington A.

On Wednesday night, Scarborough A are at home to Wykeham and Sewerby host Driffield.

In division C, Bridlington’s B team play host to Sewerby B and Pickering under-13s A are at home against Forge Valley.
