Ebberston 2nds lead the way in Derwent Valley League division A after their 88-run victory at basement club Sherburn 2nds.
Stalwarts Chris Beal, 55no, and Ashley Winspear, 43, steered the visitors to 175-6, with George Worthy and Jordan Wharton bagging three wickets each for the hosts.
Wharton’s 41 shone in the home team’s 81 all out, Eddie Swiers taking 4-40 as Ebberston claimed victory.
There was a thriller at Bromopton 2nds, with the hosts losing by seven runs despite bowling Heslerton 2nds out for only 72 runs.
Ross Triffitt’s seam bowling earned him 6-30 and looked to have put Brompton in a winning position, but Matthew Webster’s 6-27 and 3-11 from Anthony Stones saw the hosts collapse to 65 all out as they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
Oriel’s unbeaten record was ended when they suffered a five-wicket loss at home to promotion rivals Ravenscar.
Jish Rewcroft was the all-round hero for the visitors, taking 4-28 as the hosts limped to 79 all out and then hitting 30 as Ravenscar made heavy going of surpassing this low total, mainly due to the slow bowling of former Commercial ace Scott Wardman, who took four wickets for 34 runs.
Sean Pinder - a former team-mate of Wardman - also shone in his Forge Valley 3rds side’s 25-run win in a high-scoring contest at home to Muston.
Skipper Pinder and his fellow ex-Commercial player Eric Hall smashed 76 runs as Valley racked up 217-4, Tim Farrant weighing in with 29.
Pinder then took a crucial 5-44 as his bowling helped limit Muston to 192-8 in reply, the efforts of Stephen Pratt, 66, Phil Marr, 36, and Adrian Hammond, 30, proving to be in vain.
Fylingdales 2nds moved away from the relegation zone with a 63-run win at home to old rivals Whitby 3rds.
Mario Spagnolo, 43, Theo Clarke, 30, and Chris Shrimpton, 25, helped Fylingdales post 179 all out, Adam Hoggarth taking three wickets for Whitby.
Luke Harrison, with 32, was the only visiting batsman to thrive as Fylingdales skittled Whitby for 116 runs, Shrimpton taking 3-23 and Dan Hoggarth 3-23.
