Flixton pegged back by Dales

The Dale brothers were in command as York Cricket League division one runaway leaders Acomb gained the best of a draw at Flixton where the ground continued to be a batsman’s paradise.

Matt Dale hit 104 while runs from Andy Green, 41, and Joe Burton, 32, ensured another high-scoring total as Acomb reached 261-9.

Chris Mann with 4-64 was the pick of the home bowlers. Flixton opener Oliver Stephenson then made 59 which took his run aggregate to 404 in five innings which includes two centuries and two fifties.

Richard Malthouse added 37 but Joe Dale took 6-78 in an epic 24-over spell to peg the home reply to 210-8.

Matt Quaife had a good game for Welton & Brough whose division three win at Scarborough 2nds leaves them just 11 points behind the leading duo.

Quaife hit 71 and Carl Salvidge 73 as Welton made 224-5.

The former then claimed 3-17 as he and Luke Hills, 3-56, dismissed the hosts for 159.

Top-scoring for Scarborough was Tom Precious with 54 while his aide was Charlie Gibson with 38.
