Friends and family will team up to remember Gary Jones this Sunday.
Jones (pictured), a talented batsman who turned out for Scarborough, Staxton and Flixton, died from a heart-valve infection which caused bronchial pneumonia in 2009.
Since then teams brought together by Chris Allen and Mick Walmsley, who skippers a Plaxton line-up, have competed for glory in an annual t20 match staged at Flixton CC.
In the past a number of top cricketers and footballers from the area have played in the game, including Joel Ramm, Ricky Greening and Pete Milner.
Gary’s dad Barry Jones said: “We are hoping for a good turn-out on the day because all of the money we raise will go to charity.
“In the past we have been very lucky with the weather and hopefully that will be the same this time as well.”
The match will start at 2pm and there will be a barbecue and a bar for spectators.
All money raised on the day will go to Scarborough Mencap.
