Scarborough under-15s enjoyed success in the Pavilion Junior KO Cup and the Greenwood Hire Derwent Valley Junior League this week.

Brad Milburn was the star man in the cup win for Scarborough at home to Pickering A.

Milburn and Jon Read took three wickets each as the Pikes posted 98-7.

Only Matthew Butler (23) and Luke Balderson (23) offered any resistance to Scarborough’s attack.

Milburn then hit 26 retired as the hosts eased to a six-wicket win despite fine bowling from Kieron Boyes (2-15).

On Sunday, Scarborough had a much closer game against Nawton Grange in division A, the hosts only losing out by six runs.

Arron Virr’s 25 retired helped the visitors to reach 95-5, Callum Preston scooping 2-7 for Grange.

In reply Guy Harris looked to have set Nawton on the road to victory but Milburn again came to the fore, snapping up three wickets for three runs to peg Grange back to 89-8.

Also in the league on the same day, Pickering A entertained a young Sewerby side and ran out easy winners after posting a formidable 188-6.

Butler and Ryan Taylor both retired on 27, Gareth Skelton on 28 and Will Taylor added a quick 25 retired supported well by Dan Ward’s 24.

Sewerby replied with 30-9, Thomas Snowden, Luke Balderson, Brad Thompson and Ward all taking two wickets each.

In division B, Pickering’s B team suffered losses at Wykeham in midweek and at Hunmanby on Sunday.

At Wykeham the home side racked up a superb 152-2, Matt Gibson (25 retired), Toby Wrightson (25 retired), Lewis Eustace (27 retired) and James Fox (20no) all impressing with the bat.

The Pikes only made it to 104-8 in reply, Kieran Edmond top-scoring with 27 for Pikes.

At Sands Lane, Hunmanby looked to be in trouble after only making 86-4.

In reply, Pikes stumbled to 45 all out despite a plucky unbeaten 14 from Joe Harland.

Scarborough B edged to a three-wicket win at Wykeham.

Nathan Leonard top-scored with 15 as the home side were skittled for 48, Will Scofield bagging 5-7 and Morgan Grunwell 3-20.

Alex Ingham’s 22 proved crucial as Scarborough were made to dig dep for their win by top bowling from Wykeham bowlers James Fox (3-13) and Ben Norman (3-13).

Lee Pettit took 3-5 and hit 27 retired as Cayton eased to a 10-wicket home win against Oriel in the Under-13s League Zone One.

Danny Hills also bagged 3-7 as Oriel were limited to 50-6, Pettit helping Cayton to the win.

Pickering won by 50 runs at home to Snainton in Zone Two.

Kieran Edmond (26 retired) Joe Harland (25 retired), and Tom Wright (28 retired) batted well as the hosts posted 126-2.

Harland snapped up 3-2 and Tom Dawson 2-11 as the visitors were pegged back to 76-9. Michael Kipling was the leading scorer for Snainton with 25 retired, while Joe Harris weighed in with a plucky 20.

Adam Eustace took an excellent 5-2 and Ben Norman 3-2 as Wykeham B defeated Pickering B by 75 runs.

Lewis Eustace led the way for the hosts with 25 retired as they posted 109-6, with Aaron Fox, Megan Holt and Joe Jackson scoring 18 apiece, the latter remaining undefeated.

Adam Eustace and Norman then linked up to dismiss the young visitors for just 34 runs.

Alex Ball and Ryan Dawson took two wickets each as Duncombe Park defeated hosts Heslerton by 62 runs.

Pickering under-11s B team won by 12 runs at home to Duncombe Park B, while the Pikes C team lost out by 100 runs at Park’s high-flying A team, despite Ryan Vance taking two wickets in two balls for the Pikes.
