Yorkshire County Cricket Club fans from Scarborough will be able to get travel to Headingley quicker with a new bus route from Leeds train station direct to Headingley.

Fans travelling by train to Yorkshire’s t20 games and the two England games to be held at Headingley this summer will be able to jump straight onto a bus after arriving in Leeds.

The club have teamed up with bus operator Yorkshire Tiger to launch the new transport link from the city centre to Headingley for every major match during the 2014 season.

The non-stop service running from Leeds Railway Station direct to the Kirkstall Lane entrance of the Headingley Stadium complex, will be operating throughout the 2014 at the seven NatWest t20 Blast home matches and the two internationals at Headingley in 2014, the Test Match commencing June 20 and the One-Day International on September 5.

The new route will launch at this Friday’s NatWest t20 Blast, when Yorkshire Vikings take on last year’s champions Northamptonshire Steelbacks commencing at 5.30pm.

The service will commence at 3.10pm and will run every 20 minutes until the start of the match at 5.30pm.

It is envisaged the journey time will take 20 minutes and buses will return every 20 minutes after the end of play and the fare is £2 each way.

“We are delighted to be working with Yorkshire Tiger on this excellent addition to the transport links to the stadium,” said Yorkshire County Cricket Club’s head of media Danny Reuben.

“It is a great initiative and will be the fastest service direct from the City Centre to the stadium.

“We are always looking at ways of enhancing the matchday experience for our spectators and to work with Yorkshire Tiger on delivering this excellent transport link will mean it will be even easier to get to Headingley for all major matches in 2014.”

Martijn Gilbert, Business Director, Yorkshire Tiger, added: “We’re pleased to provide a dedicated match day transport link from Leeds city centre to help fans get over to Headingley easily and affordably.

“We’re proud of the community we serve and can’t wait to welcome fans on board.

“We wish the club all the best for a cracking season ahead.”
