The next generation of cricket stars have been busy honing their skills this winter under the watchful eye of a Yorkshire League cricketer.
Budding cricketers at the weekly evening indoor training sessions held within the Northern Ryedale Leisure Centre received a festive boost when Scarborough Cricket Club first-team wicket-keeper Jonathon Read, from Thornton-le-Dale, dropped in to give the youngsters some useful tips on wicket-keeping.
Lady Lumley’s School pupil Read, having enjoyed a successful first full season behind the North Marine Road stumps, is a former pupil at the weekly session run by coaches Keith Simpson and Graham Hunt.
He joined the youngsters behind the wickets showing them crouching and catching manoeuvres along with some rather nimble footwork.
There are still places available at the Wednesday evening sessions when training resumes after the festive break.
