Scarborough boosted their Yorkshire League push with a powerful six-wicket success against Castleford.
They owed a lot of the success to the bowling of overseas ace Samrat Sharma and the batting brilliance of openers Andy Simpson and Darren Harland.
Castleford did have their own batting star in Kris Ward, who made a superb 112 before being caught by Harland off the bowling of Sharma.
He was the only Cas man to shine with the willow, as Sharma’s 4-66 and Mathew Kay’s 3-85 chipped away at the line-up.
Daniel Evans also took 2-41 as the West Yorkshire side’s innings closed on 232.
In reply, skipper Simpson and Harland took complete control.
Simpson hit 11 fours in a 105-ball 88, while Harland struck eight fours and one six in making 65 off 116 balls.
When they were eventually parted the score had ticked on to 143, with an unbeaten knock of 31 from Mark Tennant and Ashley Lyth’s 20 finishing the job.
