SCARBOROUGH’S North Marine Road will play host to Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire and Gloucestershire during the 2012 cricket season.
Andrew Gale’s Tykes will take on Notts in a t20 clash at North Marine Road on June 24, and will return to town on August 27 for a CB40 clash against Warwickshire.
Immediately after that encounter Yorkshire will take on Gloucestershire in an LV County Championship division two tie.
Scarborough Cricket Club chairman Bill Mustoe also told the Scarborough Evening News that the club are in advanced talks to host a further Yorkshire fixture, thought to be the LVCC clash against Hampshire between May 16-30, this coming summer, that would take the club up to their contracted 10 days of first class cricket for 2012.
Mustoe said: “We are in talks at the moment with Yorkshire to get another fixture at Scarborough.
“We’ll be continuing talks over the next couple of weeks and will hopefully be able to get something sorted.
“It doesn’t help that Yorkshire don’t have a Championship game at home between June 2 and August 15, but we’re looking at alternative possibilities.”
The club were praised for the smooth running of the 2011 festival as well as the impressive refurbishments made to the ground.
And Mustoe is keen for the club to continue impressing as they bid to attract even more first class cricket fixtures.
Mustoe added: “We had a lot of positive comments after last year about the ground improvements and the hosting of the games themselves.
“Having another t20 game is great for cricket fans in Scarborough.
“We had a superb day last season and the fans really enjoyed it, so hopefully we can repeat that success again.
“We’re looking forward to it. The festival starts on a Bank Holiday Monday too so that’s good for the fans.”
