Scarborough scooped a 29-run success against Ravenscar on Thursday night to land the McCain Cricket Cup.
Scarborough won the toss and elected to bat on the excellent Flixton Cricket Club ground, with Theo Smith (13) and Josh Mainprize opening the batting.
When Smith was out Josh Mainprize held the innings together to finish with an excellent 60 not out to take the Scarborough total to a reasonable 124-6 at the end of their 15 eight ball overs. Will Warwick was the pick of the Ravenscar bowlers with 3-27. Mainprize’s unbeaten innings included six fours and one six.
In reply Ravenscar lost Will Warwick (10) at 22 but fellow opener Joe Bayes battled on to score a fine 49 to give Ravenscar a chance of winning the trophy, however tight bowling from Chris Hunter 2-14, Theo Smith 2-18 and Jason Leppington with 2-13 pegged them back to a final total of 95-6 at the end of their overs to win the game for Scarborough by 29 runs.
Joe Bayes’ brother Shaun Bayes was the only other Ravenscar batsman to reach double figures with 15.
This is the third season in a row that Ravenscar have finished runners-up in this competition
