Scarborough kept their hopes of winning the Greenwood Hire Derwent Valley Junior under-13s League alive with a thrilling five-run win at home to Duncombe Park.

Billy Garritty, 25 retired, and Sadid Syed, 19, helped the North Marine Road club post 89-4.

In reply Bradley Magson, 28 ret, and Ryan Hamblett, 19, did their best to steer the Helmsley team to triumph, but superb bowling from David Snowball, who took five wickets for just seven runs, saw Park fall narrowly short on 84-8.

Leaders Bridlington eased to two 10-wicket wins, against visitors Cloughton Sunday and at home to Seamer 24 hours later.

Pickering remain in the hunt after a seven-wicket win at Wykeham on Monday.

Wykeham had, earlier in the week, claimed a 102-run win at Seamer and a 50-run success at Cayton.

Ben Norman and Megan Holt were the pick of the Wykeham bowlers in the win at Seamer, taking three wickets apiece, Norman having also top-scored with 27 retired in Wykeham’s massive 148-4.

In the second game Toby Wrightson struck 25 ret as the visitors were skittled for 65, but unfortunately the Cayton team then sank to 15 all out in the face of fine bowling by Lewis Eustace, 2-1.
