Sewerby 3rds see off Flamboro’ to boost promotion bid

Sewerby 3rds need just two points to be promoted from from division B, after their nine-wicket victory at home to fourth-placed Flamborough 2nds.

Champs Great Habton did Sewerby a favour when they crushed the clifftop team’s nearest rivals Lockton 2nds by 102 runs on Saturday, so now Sewerby need only a couple of points from their game at Flixton 3rds to confirm their top-flight status next season.

On Saturday, Ernie Moorhouse took a superb 7-17 as Flamborough were dismissed for 122, Andy Dixon top-scoring for the visitors with a plucky 58.

After losing an early wicket, Linden Warcup, 78no, and Jamie Faulkner, 31no, saw Sewerby to a crucial victory.

Great Habton batsman John Lumley smashed a superb 103 as the champions proved far too strong for visitors Lockton 2nds.

Rich Wilson added 30 and Adam Durrant 26no as Habton posted 211-5.

In reply, only Will Lancaster, 30, shone as the visitors were skittled for 105.

Flixton 3rds were awarded 20 points as their opponents Snainton 2nds could not raise a side.

The game between Kirkbymoorside 2nds and Seamer 3rds was abandoned due to rain.
