Rain stopped play in Wednesday’s friendly between MCC and York & District Senior Cricket League under-21s at Scarborough Cricket Club.

The young York League side were 144-3 from 33 overs in pursuit of the MCC’s 248-7 when the heavens opened towards the end of the 50 overs per side contest.

Mike Burdett top-scored for the MCC team with 43 not out, while J Wacbett smacked 56, with L Stabler adding 36 and Ian Frost 33.

Mark Fisher claimed 2-29, while Brid all-rounder Steve Janney took 1-46, Tom Young bagged 2-60 and Josh Jackson 1-18 for the young York side.

In reply, Kyle Waite and Chris Bilton shared an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 124, with the elements halting their progress.

Waite top-scored with 64no while Bilton was left one short of his half-century.

RP Singh claimed 2-6 for the MCC side, with Stabler taking 1-30.
