The wet weather that has blighted the cricket season claimed another victim today as the third day of the Scarborough Cricket Festival game between Yorkshire and Gloucestershire was rained off.

This follows Wednesday’s play also being washed out with the Tykes 61-2 in pursuit of the visitors’ 215, and with only one day of play remaining it now seems unlikely that Yorkshire will be able to continue their push for promotion from division two of the LV= County Championship.

This latest abandonment will strike another blow to Scarborough Cricket Club’s coffers, as they will have been looking at bumper crowds for the 126th festival and now they have lost two of four days cricket.
