YORK LEAGUE: Gibson stars in Scarboro’ win

Scarborough dug deep to earn a two-wicket win at Acomb in the York Senior Cricket League premier division, while Scarborough 2nds struggled to a draw against Cottingham in division three south Flixton lost out at Goole in division one.

Scarborough edged to a two-wicket win at Acomb in the premier divisiion.

The hosts posted 192-9 Ryan Gibson bagging 3-53 for Neil Elvidge’s team.

The skipper led by example with a knock of 43, while there were valuable knocks from Darren Harland, 35, Alex Carrie, 31, and Gibson, 32, as Scarborough battled hard for their win.

The Scarborough second team were forced to hang on for a draw at home to Cottingham in division three south.

The visitors posted 211-8, and although Josh Mainprize, 61, and Charlie Roberts , 33, impressed in reply for Scarborough they hung on for a draw with 155-9.

Flixton were all out for 105 in reply to Goole’s 193-8 in their division one defeat.
