Scarborough 2nds’ relegation worries deepened after a two-wicket York League division three defeat at promotion-chasing Dringhouses on Saturday.

The visitors were dismissed for 109 runs, the only innings of note coming from Darren Mills, who struck 24.

Mike Kenyon and Gary Wilson took four wickets apiece for the home side, who must have fancied their chances of a swift win but Scarborough made them work hard for the win.

Mills followed up his batting efforts with 3-33 and Rhys Milner grabbed 3-22 as Dringhouses struggled to get near their victory target.

David Brown’s unbeaten 44 saw Dringhouses edge their way to victory, boosting their hopes of gaining promotion and leaving Scarborough 32 points adrift of safety.

Flixton also suffered defeat on Saturday, succumbing to a 109-run reverse against leaders Hull Zingari in division one.

James Berridge hit 50 for the home side, with skipper Alastair Markham smacking 45, all-rounder Anthony Knowles adding and Nick Biggs remaining unbeaten on 30 as they posted 203-7.

Scott Cooper was the pick of the visiting attack with 2-41.

Rob Lacey struck 38 and Neil Elvidge 31 as Flixton attempted to respond, but the visitors sank to 94 all out in 30.2 overs.

An excellent all-round effort from the hosts saw Matthew Scarr take 3-9 and Matthew Bunn 3-18, while Knowles and Andrew Harrison bagged the other four wickets between them.
