Next up at Silver Royd tomorrow are newly promoted West Park Leeds.

Formally known as West Park Bramhope, the club now hosts the Yorkshire Carnegie Academy at The Sycamores, their ground at Bramhope not far from Leeds-Bradford Airport.

They have made a disappointing start to their first season back in Yorkshire One losing, 36-10 at Bridlington on the opening day and 18-11 at home to Yarbury last week.

They were on the wrong end of a 46-14 score-line in a friendly with Pocklington last month.

Having disposed of visitors Selby 21-0 in their first league game, Scarborough travelled in hope to Heath last Saturday.

Unfortunately they lost the services of experienced senior players Eamon Chapman, Harry Domett and Graeme Jeffery late in the week and youngsters Ben Martin, Hayden Ogilvie and Jordan Wakeham were called up.

Starting with a complete back row of 17-year-olds in Martin, Drew Govier and James Leach, skipper Tom Ratcliffe’s men turned in a superb first-half display to lead 15-0 at the break.

A couple of sin-binnings meant they played for 20 second half minutes with 14 men and the West Yorkshiremen took advantage of their indiscipline and fought back to deservedly earn a 20-20 draw.

The first team squad for tomorrow’s game sees the return of Chapman and Domett and the inclusion of former Super League star Craig Farrell.

Due to family commitments, the veteran rugby league man won’t be available every week; however with Tomasz Chadwick struggling for fitness with a hamstring injury, his availability this week will be a bonus for Lee Douglas.

Prop Mark Hopper, who was unavailable last week is also in the squad.

The Vikings, who defeated BP Chemicals 42-19 last week have yet to arrange a game but have announced a strong squad of 21 including veteran prop Tom Fish, Alessandro Zavatti and Hayden Ogilvie,

Following success in their first-ever league game at Acklam last Sunday, the Valkryies take on Morpeth Ladies at Silver Royd on Sunday.

For the visit of the Northumbrians a 20-woman Scarborough squad has been named and includes Jenna Redmond and Dani Rowley who scored a couple of tries each last week.

Haley Evans and Jess Bray who ran-in a touchdown apiece on Teesside are also in the squad. Kick-off is at 2pm.
