Ayton Athletic Junior Football Club have been handed a huge boost thanks to a £5,000 Grow the Game grant from the Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity.
The grant will allow the club to have two more junior football teams over the next two seasons and help fund coaches at the club to be FA trained.
The teams will be for boys starting the new season at under-nines and the following season at under-eights.
Ayton Athletic chairman Carl Whitehead said: “It is great news that the Football Foundation have awarded us this money, it will go a long way to help set these teams up, funding training facilities and putting coaches on FA courses.”
Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “I congratulate Ayton Athletic Junior FC for receiving this Grow the Game grant, which will increase sport participation and support football development in the regions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the North Riding FA for their help in making this happen.”
