Tuesday night’s powerful 4-1 victory against Thackley was the best yet according to Scarborough Athletic manager Rudy Funk.
Boro eased their opponents aside to leap their way to the top of the NCEL Premier.
Funk has underlined that there is still work to be done as Boro continue their quest for glory.
He said: “You have to be proud of the lads, for 75 minutes it was great football. Thackley also tried to play the right way so it made for a great game.
“There is still a lot of hardwork ahead of us. There are still areas where we have to iron things out, which will allow us to approach them a little more professionally.
“it is early days though and I am very happy with what I saw, it was a pleasure to watch.
“We are scoring goals and the goals are coming from different areas, which is what we want from the lads.”
Funk continues to preach about the passing game, though it is something that is definitely working for Boro.
He added: “When you have the quality we have in the side it would be pointless to play a long ball. In training Denny Ingram has told the lads to pass, pass and pass again. If we do that every week then I don’t think we’ll be far wrong.
“Our fans are used to seeing quality football over the years. I have spoken to a lot of them and they have spurred me on to bring in these top players.
“This isn’t just to win games, but it is to entertain the supporters.
“They have seen a glimpse of that against Thackley because for me it wass the best 75 minutes I have seen then I have been at Scarborough, which is pleasing.
“We have seen some progression towards where we want to be.”
