Young striker Lewis Clarkson has left Scarborough Athletic to sign an 18-month deal with League One promotion-chasers Bradford City.

The former Hull City marksman, 19, had been tracked by several clubs, including Leeds United, Everton, Scunthorpe United and Grimsby Town, but has agreed to move to Bradford.

The forward, who scored nine goals in five starts, said: “I had a great time at Scarborough and the fans were fantastic.

“I would like to especially thank Darren France and John Reed, and if they had still been there I would probably have stayed at Boro until the end of the season.”

Clarkson moved to the Queensgate-based club in the summer after being released by Hull.
