SCARBOROUGH Athletic’s assistant manager Denny Ingram felt that Saturday’s 3-0 home win against Maltby Main will provide the players with a huge confidence boost.
Ingram said: “We did play some great stuff in the second half. The first period was played a little bit into their hands because they set their stall out to make themselves hard to beat.
“In the first 45 minutes we just couldn’t find that little bit extra to break them down.
“They came out and gave it a go in the second half, which presented us a bit of space and it was just a matter of time before we scored. In the end we could have had five or six, though that might have been a bit harsh on Maltby.
“We scored three scrumptious goals and kept a clean-sheet, which is great for our confidence.”
Boss Rudy Funk was delighted with his attacking trio of Tony Hackworth, Ryan Blott and Adam Lee.
Each of the frontmen found the net on the day, with the trio all playing a starring role.
He said: “We played Tony in behind the front two and it worked brilliantly.
“Ryan Blott holds the ball up and Adam Lee makes the runs. Tony though is the man that can guide them in attack.
“It was a good team performance, which was a whole lot better than last weekend against Winterton.
“I won’t say what people want to hear I only say what I see as reality.
“When things aren’t quite right, like last week when we just weren’t good enough, I have to say that.
“It was a lot better against Maltby though and I’m happy with that.”
