Boro joint-manager Bryan Hughes is delighted by the news that plans for the Weaponness Leisure Village have been approved.

“This is fantastic news for the club and the town, it means we can try and get the club back to where it belongs.

We want to go and win the league next season and hopefully this great news will give some fans a nudge to come and see what myself and Paul Foot are trying to build at the club

“It’s a huge step in the right direction for us to come back to Scarborough and the main thing is it’s fantastic for the fans.

“They’ve travelled to Bridlington and back a countless number of times and finally there is some light at the end of the tunnel for them all.

“We want to go and win the league next season and hopefully this great news will give some fans a nudge to come and see what myself and Paul Foot are trying to build at the club.”

The joint-manager added:“It’s hugely important that we start to get into the schools in the area and start to become a community club again.

“It’s something myself and Paul have been speaking about since we took over, we both believe it’s hugely important and we will be looking to get out and about in the community more next season.

“These kids are the future of the club. Yes, we may have lost a few to the big Premier League clubs like Manchester United or maybe to Scarborough Rugby Club, who have a good community operation, but if we can start that link up again maybe we can unearth a gem for the club.”
