Scarborough Athletic were pegged back to a 2-2 draw at Goole AFC on Tuesday night in their final pre-season match.
Boss Rudy Funk was delighted with the form that the visitors showed in the match.
“We were outstanding for the first 35 minutes, it was so electrifying to watch that you could easily have forgotten it was a non-league game.
“It would not have been a surprise if we had been four or five goals up in that first half-hour, the link-up play between Ryan Blott and Ollie Ryan, as well as the midfield work from Tommy Adams, was excellent.”
Funk added: “After a goalless first hour or so, we finally took the lead with a cracking volley from Paddy Miller, although Goole soon levelled from the penalty spot
“We went back in front late on through a fine shot across goal from Billy Law but they hit back with a late cross-cum-shot to make it 2-2.”
Matt Stirland scored the first goal for the hosts from the penalty spot, firing past Ryan Pugh, the Goole keeper playing in goal for Boro due to Kevin Martin being absent.
The former Scarborough FC goalie was rested by Funk as he was carrying a few minor knocks from the Notts County game.
Danny Wright scored the second goal for Goole.
