Boro could face Curzon Ashton tie

Scarborough Athletic will face at trip to Evo-Stik Premier high-flyers Curzon Ashton if they can overcome Ashington in tomorrow night’s FA Cup replay at Queensgate.

Boro boss Rudy Funk is playing down any talk of that tie though as he feels his side still face a tough examination after Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Ashington.

The carrot is Curzon Ashton is still an attractive one, especially as the Manchester club contain former Scarborough FC winger Darren Thornton in their squad of players.

Funk said: “If we progress past Ashington then that is a fantastic trip for us, but there is a job to be done first.

“The FA set this competition up in such a way that it dangles these carrots in front of you, but you can’t afford to overlook what is ahead of you.

“We still have to stay level headed before we can look forward to what could be another exciting tie for this club.”
