Scarborough Ladies FC under-14s returned to form with a 3-2 home City of York Girls League win over Ripon City Panthers.

The visitors were second in the table prior to the game, so Boro were in for a tough game, but a strong second half performance gave them the three points.

Boro went ahead after 10 minutes, when Aimie Swift set up skipper Cherie Playforth who hit an angled drive past the keeper.

However, the away side finished the half stronger and scored twice the lead 2-1 at half-time.

In the second half Boro grew more confident with some flowing football, and goals from Rhian Cattermole and Jas Parkes sealed a great comeback for Colin Hepples’ team.

The under-12s travelled to Easingwold, and went third with a great 1-0 win.

Georgia Howarth scored the only goal, with goalkeeper Denby Gillett girl of the game again, keeping a clean sheet for the team unbeaten in four games.

The under-11s faced Fulford at home, and succumbed to a 4-0 defeat.

With Fulford second in the table it was going to be a tough match, and so it proved as the away team took the points.

The club’s eldest side - the under-16s - travelled the long journey to Redcar to tackle Redcar Town in the County Cup.

Boro dominated the game, hitting the post three times and creating 20-odd chances.

However, a missed penalty for both sides in the first half was to be an omen for how the game ended.

Aimee Ireland had converted Olivia Jenkinson’s cross with five minutes left to equalise the home side’s earlier opener, which took the game to penalties.

Boro saw two penalties saved, and the home side went through in the end, winning 3-1 in the shoot-out.

This weekend sees all the club’s teams in league cup quarter-final action - all away from home.

The under-16s travel to Kirkbymoorside, the under-14s are at Knaresborough Celtic, the under-13s go to Copmanthorpe Cobras, the under-12s are at Brayton Belles and the under-11s face Fulford.
