Rudy Funk may have been delighted to announce the name of Scarborough Athletic’s first pre-season opponents in FC United, but he has also promised that there is much more to come.
Evo-Stik Premier side United will be Boro’s first home challengers of pre-season, but Funk is lining up another big name for their second match at Queensgate.
The Boro chief has tried to make the preparatory period as much for the fans as it is for the players.
He said: “There will be plenty of great games, not only for the players to be involved in, but also for the fans.
“We have two fantastic games lined up at Queensgate, one against FC United and one against another big team that we are just about to confirm.
“FC United are a massive team in non-league football, I would like to thank their club and their manager Karl Marginson for setting this game up.
“They have a huge following and I hope their fans come for a day out at the seaside.”
As well as these big fixtures, Funk is eagerly anticipating pre-season as a whole.
He added: “I’ve been excited in the past about pre-season, this time I’m over the moon.
“Lots of things are falling into place, people want to get involved and new doors are opening.
“Exciting times definitely lie ahead.”
