Scarborough Athletic are closing in on the loan signing of Grimsby Town wide-man Caine Winfarrah.
Joint-boss Bryan Hughes is hoping to have the teenager in the Boro squad for Saturday’s Evo-Stik North home fixture against Lancaster City.
Winfarrah burst into the Mariners’ squad after impressing in the Conference side’s youth team ranks. He has made two appearances, his debut in the 0-0 draw against Nuneaton and he also featured in the 7-0 humbling of Alfreton.
Boro’s Hughes said: “The deal is all-but confirmed, we are just waiting on a few things.
“He is a very well thought of player at Grimsby, who we will be delighted to have at the club.
“Caine has an exciting future, but hopefully this will give him a bit more experience of first-team football.
“We will obviously benefit from his stay and hopefully it will help Caine to improve as a player.
“I had been speaking to Grimsby’s manager Paul Hurst about a few things and he said that he had been looking to give Caine a bit of time on loan.
“It is obviously great for the club that we can work with people like Paul and utilise these loan players like we have.
“It gives us the opportunities to bring in exciting young players like Caine, Alex Peterson and Joe Cracknell to the club.”
