Scarborough Athletic have boosted their defensive line by signing Louis Horne from FC United of Manchester.

Horne, 21, will slot straight into Boro’s squad for Saturday’s NCEL Premier trip to Arnold Town.

The centre-half started his career with Bradford City, before moving to a number of clubs in the upper echelons of non-league football.

Boss Rudy Funk said: “Louis is an excellent player and an excellent communicator at the back, as well as being very experienced.

“I would like to thank Karl Marginson of FC United and John Reed, who also helped out with the signing.

“Hopefully Louis will bring that extra bit of steel to our defence that we need.”

Funk is also set to welcome Paddy Miller back into the defence after a knee injury, though Dave Kemp is struggling to be fit after picking up a similar knock against Maltby on Wednesday night.
