Scarborough Athletic have confirmed John Reed as a part of their managerial staff for the 2013-14 campaign.

Reed has managed over 2,000 games in non-league football for the likes of Harrogate Town, Stalybridge Celtic and more recently Goole.

He will slot in alongside Boro boss Rudy Funk and assistant Darren France as Boro look to push on in the Evo-Stik League next term.

Boss Rudy Funk said: “John is our biggest signing so far at the club.

“I am overwhelmed by the fact that he has joined us, this is a man that brings something incredible to the table.

“He has managed clubs in over 2,000 games so he has a wealth of experience.

“I have known John for a number of years and we are good friends, so obviously I am delighted to have him on board.”

France added: “John will know everyone in non-league football, so he will be massive for the club.

“He is somebody who has taken teams to Wembley. We are looking to push on as a unit and I’m sure he will strengthen that unit.”

Chairman Dave Holland is also delighted to have Reed on board.

He said: “We are a club that wants to move onwards and upwards and we think that he will be an unbelievable addition to the back-room staff.”
