NEW manager Rudy Funk is planning for success at Scarborough Athletic.
The former Rainworth boss has revealed that getting the job is a dream come true, and one he is aiming to grasp with both hands.
Funk is already laying down the groundwork for a successful era, kicking off with a powerful finish to the current campaign.
He said: “It is a dream come true, to me it’s like Christmas has come early.
“I have been a manager for a while, but to be involved with a club like Scarborough Athletic is amazing.
“To me it is clearly one of the biggest clubs in non-league football, due to the fan base and the history of football in the town. I just can’t wait to get going.
“In my life I am lucky to have been surrounded by success. Success does come from hard work though.
“My plan for Scarborough is to be very, very successful. I want to take them back where they belong and we will do it.”
There was some activity on the NCEL Premier’s transfer deadline day, with Richard Medcalf and Mike Gibson both leaving.
Funk’s switch to the club was signed and sealed too close to the deadline for any new players to march back through the door.
He added: “I didn’t get chance to do any deals, but if you look at the squad available, there is so much quality.
“For the rest of the season we will be going out there and looking to pick up as many points as possible, there is also the chance to win a bit of silverware in the League Cup as well.
“I want to have a good pre-season, bring in one or two new faces, then look forward to a great and exciting campaign.”
